CANADA'S TOBIAS BEHARRELL  INVITED TO
PARTICIPATE  IN  U.K.'s  "ART  ADDICTION
100 CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS"
- 2nd year

Andrea  Pagnez,   Art  Critic,  Fine
Artist   and   Editor   of  "World  of
Art" Magazine and Venice Biennial
Curator, Italy, Christopher Chamb-
er, Art Critic, Fine Artist and Editor
of  “World of Art”  Magazine,   New
York
   (USA),     Marta  Dimitrescu,
Fine  Artist  and  Director   of  Arto-
teque.com,    Editorial  Director  of
"World  of  Art"  Magazine,  London,
UK
, Åke Wallén,  Director  of  BGAB,  Art  Collector, Stockholm, (Sweden) and Peter Russu,  Fine  Artist, Director of
Art Addiction, Editor and Publisher of "World of Art" Magazine, London (UK) have nominated Winnipeg photographer Tobias Beharrell to participate in the  3rd  annual  "Art Addiction 100 Contemporary Artists - Medial Global Art Annual"  and  today accepted four pieces of photographic art by Beharrell for inclusion.

Based  from  one  of  London's  newest  and  thriving business districts -
Canary Wharf - dubbed one of the most  highly  specified  urban  business areas  in  the world,  this "by invitation only" competition originates from an  extensive  arts  and  events  culture  that  is virtually incomparable to any other contemporary arts community in the world today.

2005 has already seen Beharrell in the winner's circle, with  two  awards  for photographic excellence having been   awarded   to   him   by   another   international photographic   competition   in  Tokyo,  Japan.   In  a career  that  is  catching  the attention of the world art community --  due in part to his ability to  capture  the essense of such a diverse range of subjects -- these  were  Beharrell's fifth and sixth  international photographic juried successes in just four months.

"There  are  few  things   more   humbling   than  being accepted by the international art community,” Beharrell said from his Winnipeg, Canada home Monday.  “After years  of  hard  work  comes  the  realization  that "perfection" is a fluid reality in any artistic medium, and I have come to accept that the strength of art lies in it's true ability  to  have  a  real-time,  beneficial  effect  on society today - especially when related to documentary work.”  Beharrell  went  on  to  say that, "It is always a win-win  situation,  even in cases where I do not  come out on top in these invitational competitions, as I am so thankful that the international community feels strongly enough  about  my  work to request my participation in the first place!"

The  aim  of  the  organizers  of  the Medial Global Art Annual Exhibition, which runs through mid-2006, "is to encourage and promote  the  artistic  confrontation  of today's  different  trends  in  the  development  of  the contemporary  art  form,  to  show  a  representative panorama of the evolutionary trends and tendencies of contemporary  art,  and  to  encourage  and  advance excellence in art as well as to further the international exchange of the art form [by presenting] a survey of
art works around the world."

Devoted to the latest development in art, and a crossroads for research on new means of production and diffusion, Artoteque (the online organizer - www.artoteque.com) is an international virtual encounter with image professionals, creatives and collectors.  Beharrell's work can be seen on the worldwide web at www.ZaneMedia.com.

Beharrell  To  Document  U.S.  Celestial Sun Productions Tour  Of
"DOES YOUR LIFE MAKE SENSE?" by  Doctor,  Author Lana Marconi

Tobias  Beharrell   has   been  added   to   the  roster of
talent   for  a  possible   tour   with   Canadian-born  writer  Dr. Lana Marconi's  upcoming  stageshow, "
Does  Your Life  Make Sense?".  written  and  performed  by  Marconi  herself.

Planned to debut in Phoenix, Arizona in June, Marconi ("Dr. Lana") --  real-life  Doctor  of Transpersonal Psychology and Energy Medicine, established author and performer --  is  expected  to  draw  an  audience of  thousands of enthusiastic  guests  and  fans of  her numerous  inspir- ational   and   energy-charged   books   based   on  the  evolution of "higher thinking" and taking control of one's  own  direction  in  life.

Staged  in  a therapist's office in New York, chic-looking spiritual-psychologist   Dr.  Lana   reverses   a   typical counseling  session  when  her  client,   "Alan  Zeeker,"
(played by Frank Haggard,  NYC  Opera and Broadway Baritone Singer/Performer) comes to see her  for  help. Frustrated  with listening to people's petty problems  in- depth, she takes control and gives Alan an unexpected reality check.

Tour  Coordinator  Pamela  Phares  has   announced   a second date in San Diego, California (Saturday, July 9th) with further dates to be determined in Los Angeles,  San Francisco, Portland, Seattle,  Denver and Chicago before heading north to Vancouver, Calgary,  Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.

Photographer  Tobias  Beharrell  would tour all cities in order to document the show  and it's impact  on audience  members  through still photography and video footage.   He   will   also  prepare   footage   for   future television  productions.   Born  in  Vancouver,  Canada, Beharrell  is  known  around  the  world  for  his  award winning still photography.

Also  involved  with  the  project  is  Michael Bertolacini, a.k.a.  "DJ Scalar" - a  south  Florida  D.J.  known  for playing such  venues  as  Hollywood's  legendary
Studio 56.

BAND THE BILLS

Juno-nominated (ROOTS & TRADITIONAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR - GROUP)
The Bills  -  fresh off the road from performing to audiences all over the United States  -  stopped in Winnipeg for a quick photoshoot with Tobias Beharrell Sunday.

Performing to thrilled audiences all over the world, The Bills  typical  mesmerizing  personalities  on-stage transformed into an energetic three-hour session with band members Marc Atkinson, Adrian Dolan, Chris Frye, Glen Manders and Jeremy Penner.  With an unexpected snowstorm hitting the area just one hour into the photoshoot,  Beharrell  and  The  Bills  took advantage of natural lighting in the luxurious ballroom of a well-known downtown hotel.

Four hours later, The Bills were on the way to their next appearance - four hours later - in Kenora, Ontario.

The Bills latest album, "Let Em Run", is widely available in Canada and due for release in the United States by
Red House Records on April 5th.

"The biggest blast  of  fresh air to come out of Canada   since   The   Band,   the  Bills  present bucketfuls  of  good  stuff:  bustling  bluegrass, hillbilly symphonies, gypsy-swinging virtuosity, harmony-rich  sea  chanties,  some  great  new songs and shades of Cajun, country dance and La  Bottine  Souriante's  Quebecois brilliance."

September, 2005  - Winnipeg MB - Could it be said that Beharrell is on the same page as this city's Mayor, Sam Katz? Or is city politics next on Tobias' agenda?  Not yet, but his well-received painting-like photograph of two Canadian geese taking flight from a local pond found its way to the pages of the City of Winnipeg Annual Report.

Winnipeg's Doowah Design
Manager Susan Gordon noted the image while looking  through  Beharrell's
work at  ZaneMedia.com  and immediately requested the image for inclusion in the 52-page annual report.

This  year  saw  the  City  of  Winnipeg  focusing  on "Investing in  a  Better  Tomorrow",  and  included a number  of  images  reflecting  on  the  city's 8,800+ public employees and the roles they play in the community everyday.
With both diabetes and Parkinson's Disease affecting members of his own family, Beharrell's involvement with these issues is more than just "business" alone.

BEHARRELL'S "New City"  PHOTOGRAPHS TO APPEAR IN 2006 "WINNIPEG | Reflections of a City" and 2006 Visitors Guide

Dedicating his time to local  and worldwide causes is an important motivation to Tobias Beharrell.  This includes
giving-back to the city that he now calls "home".  Three Beharrell  images  are  included  in  the  2006 calendar titled "Winnipeg | reflections of a city" published by Destination Winnipeg.

The   three   images,   which
include a  family  skating  on
a  frozen  pond,  a  full moon
floating in a pink  sky  near a
steam-billowing  stack remin-
iscent  of   Winnipeg   winters
and    the   (now well-known)
"Painted  Geese" photograph
were picked out of over two-
thousand entries in a Province-
wide  contest  asking  profes-
sional   and   amateur  photo-
graphers   alike   to   share
"their vision" of this unique city.

Winnipeg MB
Story by Jennifer Mattheson

Vancouver-born photographer Tobias Beharrell looks back on 2005 as "a changing moment".  Having
pulled-up his deep roots on the busy and desirable
west coast just two years ago to re-establish his career in Winnipeg, Canada (the topographical center of North America), Beharrell reflected on what it takes for an artist to reach what many call working status.  "When your strongest desires in life revolve around artistic endeavours, you never quite know what 'success' is and - if it exists - how to recognize it when it happens."

Now residing in a humble century-old character home in Winnipeg's West End/Wolseley area, Beharrell has plenty of time to ponder his achievements as Manitoba's well-known winter weather chills the air beyond what most Canadians can imagine.  "My family and friends back home enjoy teasing me about our local weather, but by now I think I have seen it all."  Beharrell refers to his numerous photographic excursions, from one-hundred-thirty degree weather in the Mojave Desert to the sometimes oppressive humidity of Southeast Asia and Southern Mexico.  "It really made little to no difference in my career when I moved here," Beharrell muses.  "It seems most of my work comes either from out-of province, the United States or overseas anyways. Technology is a wonderful tool for the arts.  Most of the local work I do is volunteered."  Beharrell believes strongly in giving back to one's community.

With publications and awards from Japan, Toronto, the United States and Canada to name a few, Beharrell has become somewhat of a photographer/celebrity in his own right.  "I suppose that because so many people who are interested in becoming photographers themselves see my work and ask "how do you succeed in this business?" it keeps me questioning what it is that makes them think I have succeeded.  There is so much more I have to do, so much more to learn.  I look at the work of some of history's greatest photographic artists and think to myself 'I could never reach a level like that'. It does, however,  keep me studying - pushing myself to bring three-dimensional reality to a very one-dimensional piece of paper.  I truly believe it begins within rather than without (of each one of us) and with a bit of luck is transferred through the lens onto the image we envisioned.  One of the most intrigueing aspects of photography to me is the timelessness of it all.  A photo may well "paint a thousand words", but with technological advances, a photo can now literally last a thousand years!"  It pushes me to make sure that what ends up in print is worthy of the centuries."
